Later on Tupac appeal to your taste sense when he says, “some say the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice.” The reader can interpret that two different ways. These two quotes are an example of sight, meaning you can picture it. Shakur also stated,” While tears, is rolling down you cheeks ya steady hopin things don’t all go down this week.” He wants to give you an image of a poor woman crying hoping that everything will be better in the next days to come. In the song, Tupac says, “I say the darker the flesh the deeper the roots.” In his eyes it means the darker your skin is the more you have to been through or will go through. Imagery gives the reader/listener a picture to see while they’re reading or listening to a song. Shakur stated,”aiyyo, I remember Marvin Gaye, used to sing ta me, he had me feeling like black was tha thing to be.” The reference of a famous person is an allusion and Tupac mentioned Marvin Gaye in his song. He used words like: welfare, care, unhappy, pappy, tough, enough, price, right, cents, and rents, to accomplish the rhyme. Tupac uses the rhyme scheme aa,bb,cc, in some of his stanzas. In addition, he uses rhyme to make the song appeal to his audience. Also throughout the song he repeats “you gotta keep your head up” to put an emphasis on staying strong. He used this element to show the significance of a woman. Tupac stated,” And since we all came from a woman, got our name from a woman and our game from a woman I wonder why we take from our women,” this is a form of repetition.
